Pierre-François Valette stands out as a singular figure in the creative buzz of Parisian fashion. Through Valette Studio, his brand and workshop, he combines precise craftsmanship with a unique collaborative approach. As a stylist, technical fashion designer and entrepreneur, as well as partner to other young designers, he shakes up the codes of the fashion world by proposing a hybrid and human model of design.

With a style that draws on the essence of modern dandyism, he is restoring his credentials as a resolutely elegant circuit-court fashion designer. Trained at such Home names as Isabel Marant and Saint Laurent, he has transformed his workshop into a veritable source of savoir-faire and a haven for brands seeking quality production in small batches.

A career guided by passion and rigor

"When I was little, I was an opera singer", recalls Pierre-François Valette. "I was put on a special timetable because I was totally hyperactive. It was a profession of light, of dreams, like fashion today". Yet it was only after studying medicine and law that he found his true vocation: "I wanted to make beautiful!".

After being admitted to the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Pierre-François quickly climbed the ranks. An internship at Isabel Marant enabled him to learn the nuts and bolts of design, from the canvases known as "carcasses" to experimenting with shapes. "In the evenings, at home, I'd cut patterns, sewing snail-like on the machine to make it as regular as possible. I'd make zips and pockets. Thinking with your hands is extremely therapeutic". These years of apprenticeship culminated in his admission to the prestigious Saint Laurent Couture Institute, where he won the final competition. But his desire to remain at the interface of studio and atelier drove him to launch his own collection.

"Me, initially, I didn't want to make a brand. I just wanted to make a collection", confesses. Over time, Valette Studio evolved into a major entrepreneurial venture. In 2020, after being accepted onto the Official Fashion Week Calendar and embarking on 6 seasons at Showroom Sphère, he devotedly lays the foundations for a Home that combines design and local production: "creating a fashion company is a commitment, a passion, a life choice".

A balance between design and production

Valette Studio complements its brand activity with that of an atelier. Here, Pierre-François Valette has assembled a close-knit team of model makers, mechanics and stylists/model makers to produce his brand: "There's a kind of innate talent in these professions (...) I try to find each person's strong point so that they're in the best place and, above all, fulfilled", he explains. The workshop works on reasoned volumes, with particular attention to detail and quality.

This model gradually opened up to other designers, giving rise to Valette Atelier: "I wanted to build loyalty among the people who worked for my brand, so outside of manufacturing time for Valette Studio, I started accepting to make creative proposals for others". Her clients? Young designers, but also bigger brands looking for exclusive small batches. Whether for commercial or highly creative projects, he applies the same savoir-faire techniques.

Labeled "Fabriqué à Paris" with Le Vestiaire Tailoring and supported by his award in the French Ministry of Culture's call for fashion and fashion professions projects, the designer has enjoyed a fresh boost since this year. "What I bring to my customers is serenity. Having been there, I know it's a real added value." This artisanal ethic is also based on a sustainable approach: materials sourced in Europe, local manufacturing and attention to ecological processes. "I think that for B2C sales, Made in France is an asset and an explanation of the price", explains Pierre-François Valette.

A dandy style, between timeless elegance and humanity at Valette Studio

Pierre-François Valette's collections revisit masculine elegance with a contemporary twist. Impeccable shirts, structured blazers and tailored pants make up a minimalist wardrobe of assertive refinement. "We make truly dandy shirts, blazers and pants. It's a word that's a bit erased now, because people have a false image of it. For me, there are so many incredible dandy personalities like Gainsbourg, Mick Jagger or Amy Winehouse. What interests me is the human, the story, the dramas"

This quest for authenticity is also reflected in his production management: few surpluses, just-in-time collections, and a capacity to produce to order for VIPs or press projects: "people really wait when they want a unique product". Alongside ready-to-wear, Pierre-François Valette also dreams of rehabilitating men's haute couture, a segment he feels is under-exploited: "today, we offer mixed menswear, but there's so much to do in Haute Couture".

Finally, Pierre-François' desire to elevate garment making professions remains a constant. He deplores a lack of consideration for these craftsmen, who are nonetheless at the heart of Design: "Fashion brings everyone together, with the same passion", he asserts. And it's this passion that he infuses into every project, whether it's his own collections or those he helps create for other designers.

Pierre-François Valette embodies a new generation of designers, where the boundary between art and craft is fading in favor of a more human model. Valette Studio is a reflection of this philosophy, with a vision that is both demanding and benevolent, to grow his own brand and the made in France.
