A premium fiber, grown and increasingly spun and woven in Europe for high-end markets, flax meets new expectations in the textile sector. While the redeployment of the hemp industry is more recent on the Old Continent, hemp is proving just as promising.
In France, some thirty specialist retailers play a crucial role in helping consumers identify, understand and favor locally produced fashion brands. Two examples from Paris: L'Appartement Français and l'Habit Français.
Run by volunteers, the Fédération Indépendante pour le Made in France (FIMIF) fights against the use by brands and distributors of markings that mislead consumers into believing that their products are made in France.
Although they appreciate it, the French are unfamiliar with the rules and labels that govern the use of Made in France labels.
FACIM would like to see more French textile and clothing manufacturers included in public procurement contracts. Hence a guide to raise buyers' awareness.
The 2 courses aim to support :
- French clothing brands wishing to adopt a local production approach by relocating the production of their collections,
- French manufacturers in the textile-clothing sector who want to modernize their industrial facilities to improve their competitiveness.
